Abstract

This study sheds light on the concept of female circumcision from the shar??ah and medical perspective by focusing on the wisdom of its legitimacy, jurisprudential judgment, and its benefits from both the shar??ah and medical points of view. This study was conducted the calls for prohibiting the practice of female circumcision - based on the fact that circumcision is merely following inherited customs and traditions that lead to female genital mutilation and cause physical and psychological damage that affects a woman's life in the future - did not differentiate between the correct and healthy method that Islam brought as well as between the cruel and unhealthy methods Being practised in some Islamic countries. This study used the descriptive and analytical approach to analyses the evidence, opinions and texts related to the topic. The study concluded that female circumcision has positive effects that benefits women, her family, and her community. Moreover, the application of the Sunnah (Circumcision) implies an affirmation to Shariah and the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW and upholds the tolerant ritual but not the harsh tribal traditions.
