Acara ialah program keramaian yang dianjur oleh satu pihak sebagai tuan rumah, dan pihak lain sebagai tetamu yang dilayan. Dalam tradisi keilmuan Islam, ia disebut sebagai dhiyafah (resepsi tetamu) dan ia adalah satu tuntutan dalam Islam. Namun, pembaca yang menyelurusi kitab turath akan mendapati terdapat banyak elemen resepsi yang sangat berat untuk diamalkan oleh setiap Muslim. Standard/garis panduan biasa pula tidak memerhatikan soal iman dan hukum hakam Islam. Dengan menggunakan kaedah induktif terhadap Qur’an dan hadis serta sistesis dengan rekabentuk standard dan garis panduan yang sering dipakai, kajian ini mencadangkan satu garis panduan untuk penganjuran acara yang dipayung di bawah jenama Mesra Muslim. Kajian ini menyentuh pelbagai aspek penganjuran acara dan resepsi tetamu merangkumi standard, garis panduan dan fatwa sedia ada yang perlu dibaca bersama, persiapan pengurusan, jemputan dan sambutan tetamu, hidangan makanan, hiasan dan persembahan, serta tuntutan fardhu ain. Kajian ini berpotensi untuk menambah baik standard MS 2610:2015 Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Services Requirements yang dikeluarkan Jabatan Standard Malaysia, atau sebagai rujukan agensi yang melihat keperluan adanya garis panduan tersebut.
